Madcatter Start
Rich McVeigh, Saturday, 29 May 2010

Fleet 204 of Syracuse, NY hosted the Madcatter, May 21-23, 2010.

The Madcatter is one of the largest Hobie regattas on the east coast and this tradition continued with 63 boats in attendance, most of which were Hobie 16s. In addition to big competitive fleets and great parties the Madcatter is know for "cool weather", seriously it only snowed once and that was years ago. This years event was blessed with three days of warm weather, sun and wind! Fridays activities featured a Guest Expert Seminar by Wally Myers and Susan Korzeniewski followed by a distance race. Saturday and Sunday were fleet races. The competition in all the fleets was fierce and none more so than the 32 boat Hobie 16A fleet. Francisci Figuero & Jolliam Berrios (PUR) won the 16A fleet, John Anderson &  Arin Rushford (USA) won the 16B fleet, Patrick Green (USA) won the wave class and Rob Jerry & Tina Pastoor (USA) won the F18 fleet in their first appearance on a Wildcat.
