 The US National Centre and Hall of Fame announced 15 sailors including HOBIE ALTER who will make up the inaugural class of inductee for US National Centre and Hall of Fame.

“After years of planning, we are pleased that the heroes of our sport are getting long overdue recognition’” said Dick Franyo, president of the US Sailing National Centre and Hall of Fame, in press release.


US Sailing National Centre and Hall of Fame will be a place of  to honour those heroes and provide inspiration for all sailors young and old.


The inductees are US citizens 45 and older who have made a significant impact in growth and development of sport in the US in categories of sailing. 


Hobie who is also an inductee to the Huntington Beach Walk of Fame . 


Emphasizing the national scope of the National Sailing Hall of Fame, this firrst group of inductees will be honoured October 23 during and invitation only ceremony at San Diego Yacht Club.


The next group of the National Sailing Hall of Fame will be announced July 2012 and through 2013, the number of inductees will not exceed 15. Beginning 2014, the selection committee will induct a maximum of of five sailors each year.
