Dear Hobie Sailor,

At the end of this month we would have announced two new World Champion’s and two International Cup winners. Also we will be well into the Hobie 16 Open worlds. So this will be a big sailing month. So don’t forget to check out the web site www.hobieworlds.com for all the information.

The North American Hobie 14 & 17 Championships were held at Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach, Delaware. Congratulations to the sailors that competed in some windy conditions.

During the North American Hobie 14 & 17 Championships the sailors celebrated Milt Dinhoffer birthday. Then Milt announced his retirement from competitive sailing. Milt was celebrating his 82nd birthday! We all hope Milt enjoys his retirement from competitive sailing and enjoys his recreational sailing.  While sailing maybe a sport for all ages, the Hobie Class can boast 82 year old’s attending the North American Championships to 11 year old’s competing at our World Championships. When you look through the entry list for the world you notice so many families sailing together. We see all types of family combinations including fathers crewing for daughters. So when people refer to the “Hobie Family” they are not just referring to our close friendships. We must be one of the very few sports and classes in the world that allow such a wide sailing age group and families to compete together.
